PROPERTY ASSESSMENT
What is a Property Assessment?
A property assessment is a scouting report of a property or operation. This can be done prior to purchase of a property, as part of due diligence or in conjunction with the search for the perfect place, or to strategically plan the future of an existing property. It provides an inventory and analysis of available resources, identifies issues and opportunities that the landowner may wish to address, and includes brief recommendations for further action.
Why is it Valuable?
A property assessment serves as a starting point for further planning and establishes a baseline for making decisions. During an assessment, a lot of information is gathered and organized along with clear options for taking action, whether that action is to buy or sell a property, hire staff, or invest in improvement projects. This simple document is one of the most basic and important first steps in ranch planning, and will save the landowner a lot of time, effort, and money.
A Property Assessment Includes:
Basic mapping of property boundaries, natural resources, land ownership patterns, aerial photography, etc.
Identification of issues and opportunities facing the operation
Inventory of resources, including natural and infrastructure
Recommendations for programs or projects to achieve stated goals
List of contacts, information sources, and potential contractors
